Personal Submission – 2010

Whilst on a summer night shift several years ago, I walked through the emergency department of a metropolitan hospital. As I passed by a triage room, I noticed a male patient laying on a bed, loudly groaning and putting on quite a show.  I was somewhat bemused at this spectacle and as I walked back to the ambulance asked one of the nurses on duty what was going on what the guy in the triage room. She laughed as she repeated the story that he had gone to the local nudist beach that day, laid down to work on his tan … and had fallen asleep. It gets pretty hot here in summer so yep, you guessed right, it was burned goolies for this Woftam. Ouch!
