Okay, if you’re going to attempt your own ceiling insulation, you might want to give up smoking …

When the home of a middle-aged man caught fire, you might think police wouldn’t be surprised to find that it was caused by a cigarette … except that the blaze is believed to have started in the ceiling.

The man was installing foam and cardboard in the ceiling of his house in a Dodgy Brothers style attempt at diy insulation. Unfortunately, he dropped his cigarette and set fire to the house. When fire officers arrived, the fire was already well advanced and it took around half an hour to put out. Luckily, the man and his father escaped unhurt but his mother suffered a burn to her arm. The house was not so lucky … it was destroyed.
