Yes, more rectums … honestly, what are some people thinking?

A 27 year old man presented at the emergency department of a local hospital complaining of lower abdominal discomfort … due to resin he had injected into his rectum.

The man had injected liquid adhesive into his rectum five hours before arriving at hospital. The resin, designed for use as a masonry adhesive, was administered via a dual-chambered glue gun. When the gun trigger is squeezed, both chambers discharge simultaneously causing an exothermic reaction between the combined contents which solidifies and adheres to the applied surface.

When doctors examined the man’s rectum, a rock-solid foreign body was visible and palpable from the anus. A plain x-ray of the area showed an opaque foreign body, approximately 16cm long in the shape of the rectum.

Despite trying to remove the resin with an oily enema and manual manipulation, the hardened mass had molded itself to the contours and was too difficult to expel without surgical intervention. A laparatomy was performed through the abdomen and the mass was gently manipulated through the rectum and out the anus. The rectal wall, though inflamed and swollen, was intact. The man was given a temporary colostomy to prevent perforation following concerns regarding a possible ‘burn’ of the rectal wall from the materials used.

After a period of weeks, when tests revealed the rectum was back to normal, the colostomy was removed.

The patient admitted he had done this for anal erotic enjoyment. He had no previous psychiatric issues and was offered counselling but declined.

What can we say about this one? It must have been good …

A 16-year-old boy who shot his father, thought his mother was being beaten by him at the time. It seems, however, that the act the boy witnessed was not abuse, but loud consensual sex. 

It is believed that the couple’s younger son, aged 11, woke up when he heard his mother making loud noises. Thinking his mother was being beaten by his father, he went into his parent’s room where he observed his parents making love. Interpreting the noise and act as their mother being in danger, he woke his older brother who went to his parent’s room and fired a shot at his father, hitting him in the arm.

Further investigations has revealed a history of abuse in the family, with the father being charged and convicted of domestic violence.

The shooting was originally reported as a case of domestic abuse. The boy has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His father was transported to hospital for treatment.
