Sacramento Kings basketball rookie Lionel Simmons, missed several games during the 1991 season through tendonitis of his left wrist and forearm.

Unfortunately for Lionel, he didn’t miss the games by injuring himself playing the game … well, not with the Sacramento Kings anyway. No, Lionel developed tendonitis by playing too many video games on his Nintendo GameBoy.

A 20-year-old man who presented to the emergency room complaining of rectal pain had a stony hard mass in his rectum on examination.

An abdominal plain x-ray revealed an opaque mass. Further questioning revealed had been fooling around with his boyfriend several hours earlier. After stirring a batch of concrete, the man laid on his back with his feet against the wall at a 45 degree angle while his boyfriend poured the mixture through a funnel into his rectum. The mass hardened and became painful, forcing him to seek medical attention.

He required surgery to remove the 275 gm concrete mass measuring 12cm x 7cm x 5cm. A layer of concrete was chipped off the upper part of the specimen, revealing a white plastic ping-pong ball.

The man was kept overnight, being discharged the following morning. He declined a psychiatric consultation.

When 41 year old Elvin Bale climbed into a cannon on 8th January, 1987, at a theme park in Hong Kong, he never thought he’d be waking up in a body cast.

Bale, a veteran circus performer, was ejected out of the cannon but missed the air bag target by a short distance. He landed feet first onto a concrete floor.

Despite popular belief, the cannon is not a gun, it is actually a hydraulic piston pushing the performer out, with an explosion for effect. In trial shots of Bale’s cannon, canvas and sand dummies weighing the same as the human cannonball, were used to calculate the distance and force required. Unfortunately, the dummy used in Bale’s trials in Hong Kong had been left on rain-soaked ground causing it to gain weight and the cannon was adjusted to shoot him too far.

The impact onto the concrete floor shattered Bale’s ankles, knee and leg and his spine. He was paralysed from the waist down.

This 14 year-old male nominee and his friends were attempting to ’surf’ the roof of a slow moving train carrying stone. As the train passed under them, they jumped onto the roof of the carriage below. Unfortunately for our victim, he slipped and fell onto the tracks. His injuries resulted in a double amputation of his lower legs and many weeks of hospitalisation and rehabilitation. Some Woftam’s never learn …

We’re left speechless with this one … a true WTF moment!

A woman who tried to teach her dog how to drive, crashed her car into an oncoming vehicle.

The woman decided to let her dog have a go at steering her car, while she operated the accelerator and the brake. Unfortunately, she crashed the car into an oncoming vehicle. Both vehicles were damaged but it is believed that no one, including the dog, was injured.

I guess you have to wonder about people who’re prepared to chase a cheese down a hill … just to win … a cheese!

The annual cheese-rolling competition has resulted in around 25 people being injured.

The competition revolves around people chasing a giant cheese down a steep slope. This years’ event took place in front of a crowd of 3000 cheering spectators. Participants were from all over the world.

The race requires competitors to run down a 200 metre slope after the Double Gloucester cheese. Many of the competitors slipped, somersaulted and tumbled their way to the bottom. Five races were held over two hours.

Twelve of the injured people were spectators. Two people were taken to hospital for further treatment. Organisers of the event say injuries were less this year than in previous years.

Injuries included a dislocated finger and a fractured ankle. The winner of the five races, was an 18 year old man, who knocked himself out in the process.

Interestingly, the first prize is a big circle of cheese!

A 29 year old man who stole items from a supermarket and fled on foot, was caught by an 81 year old man.

The man, who stole cosmetics from the supermarket, ran from the store with two employees in pursuit. The elderly man watched the drama unfold in front of him and gave chase on his bike. He rode into the thief’s legs, causing them both to fall.

The older man sustained injuries to his hand and shin. The shoplifter was arrested.

A man had part of his tongue bitten off when he was French kissing his girlfriend.

When the man and his girlfriend were kissing passionately, she accidentally bit off part of his tongue. He was treated at hospital and had surgery to reattach his tongue. Post surgery recovery involved sipping iced drinks and avoiding wet kisses.

A severed finger was found in the bathroom of a pub in central Sydney, after its owner was treated at hospital.

The man was believed to have been in a fight at the pub. He went to hospital for treatment of the finger, which was missing the top section. Staff at the hospital phoned the hotel, which prompted a worker to discover the remnants of the finger in the bathroom.

It is not known if the finger was repaired successfully.

Another case of improper penile location leading to embarassment …

A dwarf performer at the Circus of Horrors, a festival known for its oddball performances, was taken to hospital when his penis got stuck in a vacuum cleaner.

The dwarf, known as Capitain Dan the Demon Dwarf, was preparing for his performance. The main part of his act was to appear on stage with a vacuum cleaner attached to his penis by a special apparatus. Unfortunately, the suction pipe was split preventing a good seal so he repaired the crack with extra-strong glue but couldn’t wait the required 20 minutes for it to dry. He joined it to his penis where it stayed.

The man was taken to hospital by his manager and met by paramedics who wheeled him into the Emergency Department. Staff used a special softening fluid to soften the glue and his penis was free after about an hour.
