We can totally understand the actions of this man in attempting to save his grandchild but still he earns a nomination. Seriously, can you imagine the family banter in years to come … “Grandpa? Do you remember the time when … ?!
A 65 year old man was seriously injured by an elephant at the Belgrade Zoo when he attempted to rescue his grandchild.
The man’s grandson had gotten into the elephant enclosure, which is partly covered and separated from the public by a wall and a ditch. The man went after the child and was able to lift him out over a wall but was hit by the elephant from the back. He suffered broken ribs and severe abdominal and chest injuries. His is in a stable condition following surgery.
Zoo officials believe the man possibly crossed the part of the wall that is used to feed the elephant.
