A 40 year old woman, celebrating her lesbian wedding, spent her first night of marriage in jail.

Following a gay civil ceremony, the bride drank up to eight pints of lager and champagne at the wedding reception. When a doorman allowed an unwelcome guest into the private reception, a row developed between him and the bride. During the row, the bride pulled down the top of her dress and exposed her breasts to him, calling the doorman a pervert. It was then that the bride and her partner lunged at the doorman. The bride hit the man in the forehead with the heel of a two-inch stiletto shoe, causing him to bleed.

The bride was held in custody ovenight and released the next morning to continue her honeymoon. She was charged with common assault and sentenced to a 12 month community order with 60 hours unpaid work as well as 100 pounds compensation and 150 pounds costs.
