A 27 year old man, who shot himself in the penis by accident, was so embarrassed by the incident that he told paramedics that he’d been attacked by a masked mugger during a bungled robbery.

Mistakenly thinking the safety catch was on, the man pulled the trigger of the gun as he stuffed it into his trouser pocket while trying to impress his friends.

Despite making up a story about being shot in the tackle by a mugger, he was found out by police who smelled a rat when they realised that the front of his trousers was intact and there was just a charred hole in his pocket. The man faces up to three years jail for breaching Germany’s new anti-gun laws.

Doctors were able to save his penis.
