Slippery Surfer
15th March 2010, NSW, Australia
Its a shame we weren’t all born with the maturity of forethought … and brains …
A 17 year old boy, walking with friends just after midnight, was approached by a vehicle. As the vehicle began to drive away, the teenager jumped onto the back of the car but fell off. Police believe he may have been ‘car surfing’.
It is believed that he lost his grip on the car as it began to gain speed, causing him to fall backwards onto the road hitting his head. The driver of the car did not stop at the scene, but police concede that he may have been unaware that the teenager had jumped onto the car and fallen.
Unfortunately for the teenager, his injuries were serious. Initially transported to the Tweed Heads District Hospital in an agitated state, he was was transferred to the ICU at Gold Coast Hospital although he is no longer listed as critical.
Police are investigating reports of youths car surfing with a different car, in and around the same street just prior to the incident. They are still investigating and waiting to speak with the injured teenager, the driver of the vehicle and anyone else who may have been involved.
