 Wow, when you play with fire, you’re sure gonna get burned … or Tasered!

A 44 year old man who locked himself inside a house and threatened to burn it down, spread fuel around the house and told police he was going to get matches. He got burned …

Police forced their way inside the house and attempted to arrest him. When a police Taser was fired at him, it ignited the fuel, causing 20 per cent burns to the man’s body.

The man suffered burns to his upper body and arms. He is in a stable condition in hospital.

West Australian police guidelines recommend against the use of Tasers near flammable liquids but when faced with a significant threat, police are authorised to use force. Police are still investigating.
